Wimbly Lu

And finally after hearing so much about this place.... we are here!!! It is definitely not the easiest place to find and it will be very inconvenient if you do not drive or the cab driver doesn't know the place. So activate your GPS to guide you to the place. Well if you have been to Cajun Kings and did not realize that Wimbly Lu is just next to it, now you know where it is.

So there was a long queue when we arrive and they do not take reservations for Fri and Sat night. We reached about 8pm and waited for about 20 mins which was very much ok.

Do get a queue number from the staffs when you reach else you will be waiting in vain like us for the first 5 mins.

Hazelnut Butterscotch Bar

I'm a number one fan for butterscotch dessert so when I saw this at the counter, I know I am so going to have it. It is a little hard to cut but you just have to get it right the first time and the subsequent cuts will be smooth. As you can see how generous they are with the hazelnuts within the butterscotch. Its not just crumps of hazelnut but the whole hazelnut itself.

Price: $4.50

Root Beer Cake

It looks just like a normal slice of brownie. Well indeed it is but the special part about this the taste of root beer when you popped a piece of it into your mouth! It really surprises me even though I already know it is not called the root beer cake for nothing. This is one of the signature, so try it! The portion is very small for this so basically it gives you a reason to order another desert!

Price: $6

Waffle with Honey Cinnamon Ice Cream

The waffle is thick and soft. The texture is good and the taste is excellent. It looks very simple but is really one of the best waffle I had. There are many other flavours of ice cream such as salted caramel, Milo, chocolate truffle and more. We chose the honey cinnamon hoping that the can get to taste the honey ice cream we had in Italy months ago. But the cinnamon taste has cover the taste of the honey. But overall it is still good.

Price: $8.50

The thing that I like most about Wimbly Lu is that t hey serve you the desserts in small portion and also charging you a lower cost for the portion. That gives me more stomach allowance to try on more desserts. And of course paying just $5 - $9 per dessert is really affordable. They spoil you with choices and make you start pulling your hair because you just can't decide what to order as all just seem to nice to have!!!! Service was great, staffs are very helpful and friendly too. I can't think of anything to fault them and can't think of any reason not to visit them again.

Arbite

Located at the same place where Sushi Tei is in Serangoon Gardens. Just in front of the bus stop in front of Chomp Chomp. So it is easily located for people who hang out at Serangoon.

It is located on the 2nd floor and we are lucky enough to have gotten a seat without reservation. Right after we are seated, there is a short queue near the stairs leading to the restaurant.

The place is rather small, thus it is impossible for them to give us a chair to put the bag. We were surprised that they took the initiative to hand us a bag hook! Very thoughtful! The staffs are also very friendly and recommended us

Ice Chocolate

It would have taste better if it is thicker!

Price: $5.50

Mango Passion

It's a sour and sweet, very appetizing. It's quite a huge class and B had problem finishing them up.

Price: $7

Green Tea Tagliatelle

I have to say that the pasta is cooked Al Dente. Their pastas are freshly made everyday and that explains why it tasted so good much better than some of the bigger scale restaurants out there. So you are not eating the kind of dried pasta where you are easily grabbed from any supermarket. There is a little taste of green tea but not very strong. The pasta is accompanied by slices of smoke duck and semi sundried tomatoes.

Price: $23.90

Pappardelle with Mushrooms and Parma Ham

This is even better. The moment the staff walk towards us with this dish, we can smell the aroma of truffle oil. The texture of the pasta is really good, thick but not too thick. It is accompanied with button mushrooms, spinach, generous serving of parma ham and truffle oil. I think this is a MUST EAT!

Price: $19.90

I was initially thinking that the food is kinda overprice as given it's location is not situated in the city. However as shown in the bill, no additional GST added and most importantly the pastas are hand made freshly everyday. The ingredient used are probably more premium, thus that gives a reason for the price charged.

Union Farm Eating House

So I was craving badly for some 纸包鸡 and of course the first place that comes to my mind is this place! It gives me this very strong Kampong feeling even though I have never been to a Kampong before. The old feeling gives me a very comfortable and peaceful feeling. It feels as though you are out of the buzzing city.

So we decided to order the set dinner which I kind of regretted. I should have just order more chicken wrapped in paper with the oyster sauce bee hoon.

Chicken Wrapped in Paper

It is still very well marinated but ordering the set will only comes in 6 which is just not enough especially when you have to share that. So I would greatly suggest not to order the set.

Oyster sauce Bee Hoon and Egg Noodles

I would prefer the bee hoon to the noodles. The noodles is a little dry and I am very sure they are pre cooked just like the bee hoon. When served, they are not warm enough. Though look really plain, this is just something really simple.

Chinese Mushroom Soup

There are quite a few slices of chinese mushroom in the soup. It also comes with one chicken feet. The soup is strong in taste and it's good. I pretty much like it.

Prawns with sauce

Ok I have to say that this is really nothing much and my mother can cook better than this. The prawns used are not fresh either. It can be easily tell by the texture of the meat and if the shell sticks to the meat of the prawn. So it is a thumbs down for this dish.

Fried Beancurd

The beancurd is well fried and taste good with the sauce on top. Though it is not something that is really special but it is good within simplicity. However I would rather eat more chicken than this.

Fried Cuttlefish Balls

Overall, the price to pay for such normal food is a little too steep. These are just some usual homecook food other than the chicken wrapped in paper.
