Au Chocolat

B found this new place and we visited it today after going to The art of the brick at the Art Science Museum.

Au Chocolat consist of 3 different parts, the bistro, the patisserie and the confiserie. We had our dinner at the bistro and we are able to place our order for the cakes at the patisserie where the staffs will bring it to us later at the bistro.

Their huge open concept kitchen. It keeps my eyes real busy while waiting for the food to come.

Truffle Fries

They uses the thicker kind of fries which is also the kind that I like. The serving of the truffle fries is huge and the both of us were unable to finish them. It should be good for sharing for 4 if each person order just a main. The truffle fries is not the best that I have eaten but definitely one of the best.

Price: $15

The Great Carnivore

The toast was soft and tasty especially after spreading the butter on it. The bacon is cooked till crispy and the omelette is wrapped with mushrooms, ham and cheese. You will be able to choose scramble eggs or omelette for this dish.

Price: $20

Mushroom and Chicken Crepe

B had this and although it look as though it is small and unable to fill the stomach.... looks can be deceiving. Its actually very filling and perhaps due to the cream sauce, we were unable to finish the whole dish. This tasted so-so and we definitely will not order it again the next time we visit the place.

Price: $18

Lychee Rose Macaron

The macaron is not the usual size. It is probably about the size of a palm without the fingers. It is a little to sweet and we have to drink lots of ice water to neutralize after eating this.

Price: $7

Kalamansi Meringue Tart

I am not a dessert person but I do like lemon tarts. This lemon tart looks beautiful and tasted sour on the inside and sweet on the outside. The crust of the tart tasted just nice and with the right texture too.

Price: $7

So after our meals, we walked around the Confiserie where they sell sweets and chocolates and even gelato! We bought the smallest cup with a scoop of caramello gelato. This is nothing as compare to San Crispino we had in Rome. The gelato here is a little too hard and it is not smooth enough. The smallest cup cost $4.80.

Overall the service at the Bistro is rather slow. We waited for awhile before the food was served. The main dish was just ok, not totally fantastic. But there are many variety that we can choose from and I believe we will be back for more different choices next time.

Antoinette

This place is always packed with people and there seems to be a never ending queue each time we walked past. We wanted to have our dinner a couple of times but we backed off after seeing the long queue. So today we tried our luck again at about 7+pm which is the peak hour for dinner. To our surprise, there was no need to queue and there were some empty seats. And so finally we had our chance.

The interior is rather small, that explains the wait all the time.

Crab Suzette

It is a little spicy, with generous serving of crab meat. Cooked in Alio Olio style. It taste pretty good. As B was having a sore throat, this dish does not really suit her. So i get to eat quite a big portion of it. Didn't regret ordering this.

Price: $26

Burger Antoinette

I seldom order burger for a proper meal in a restaurant because most burgers are served with beef patty. And because I am NOT a beef eater, therefore usually I don't order burgers. Fortunately, Antoinette served this lovely burger with chicken patty that tasted awesome! The chicken patty is accompanied by pan fried apple, onion chutney and tomatoes in between 2 thick slices of toasts. It's served with salads and chips. So for non beef eater, this will be a great choice!

Price: $20

Nougatine

The crepe is filled with nutella, topped with nougatine ice cream and generous pieces of caramelize filo. This dessert is really sweet but I guess that's what dessert suppose to be like.

East Ocean Teochew Restaurant

This is probably the 576252198209th time that we are eating here and of course out of the many times, a huge percentage of it are dedicated for their dim sum. This is the best in terms of taste and of course the price, after Dim Joy has closed down.

East Ocean is a typical Chinese restaurant where the staffs would push the dim sum trolley around and shouting out what are the dim sum they have for each of their trolley or tray. It feels as though you are in Hong Kong as the aunties will start shouting around in Cantonese.

   Steamed Cuttlefish with Curry

This has got to be my favorite at East Ocean. The cuttlefish is so soft and tender and it also adsorb the curry sauce well.

Price: $5.80

Steamed Ha Kau

The prawn is big and the skin of the ha kau is thin which allows you to taste the the sweetness of the prawn. It comes in 4.

Price: $5.80

Steamed BBQ Pork Rice Roll

Price: $5.80

Steamed Custard Bun

The custard egg yolk ooze out of the steamed bun when you take a bite. Have to be caution as it may be very hot when it is first served. It also comes in 4 and the size of each custard bun is pretty small. But it is good as your stomach will have more space for different variety of dim sum.

Price: $4.80

Steamed Siew Mai

Price: $4.80

Deep-Fried Beancurd Skin

Price: $5.80

Mini Egg Tarts

Price: $5.80

$52 for 2 pax is quite ok and it is really filling. We had our dinner on the same day at only 10.30pm because we were so full from the lunch.

Madam Saigon

It has been around for a long time and I have never patronize this Vietnamese restaurant before even though we are often hanging around in Bugis area.

I have walked pass this very prominent restaurant (Because of the red outline at the entrance) situated at Liang Seah Street countless of times all these while. Last week, we ended our Christmas shopping pretty late and have quite a few errands to run thus we decided to have our dinner at Porn's due to some Thai food craving. However when we reached, Porn's was already closed. We were famished as it was already 10pm so we thought we would just settle at Madam Saigon since it is just next to where we were standing.

We are not a fan for Vietnamese food and this is actually the 3rd time I am having Vietnamese food in Singapore. The best I ate was in Ho Chi Minh where I had the best pho ever!

Mixed Roll Prawn

The mixed spring rolls comes in 3 different kinds. there are 4 steam ones, 4 fried ones and 2 with bigger ones with the tail of the prawn. All 3 kinds taste really good especially when dipped into the sauce. There are also 2 different sauces and 1 is for fried rolls, the other for steam rolls. The friend waiter told us which is for which and they tasted really well together.

Price: $20.50

Grilled Chicken Noodle

This is actually a little disappointing though. I was expecting a bowl of pho but it tasted more like kway teow. It is also a little hard and the soup was far from what I had in Vietnam 2 years ago. It looks rather plain with no colors but that is because i requested not to have any spring onion. I know people usually order the beef one instead of chicken but because I do not eat beef.... so I have to opt for the chicken.

Price: $9.90

Seafood Fried Kway Teow

B ordered this and it is pretty good. It is friend with seafood such as cuttlefish, prawns and crab sticks.

Price: $13.50

We also ordered lemongrass cooler and the ice fruit tea. Didn't have a picture of both as they look really normal and tasted nothing special as well.
